Tulsi (also known as holy basil) has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine. Consumed in therapeutic herbal teas, some scientific studies have demonstrated the anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-oxidant properties of this adaptogen. Tulsi has been widely used in tea to assist with treating anxiety and stress, as well as providing digestive support. Other well regarded uses of consuming tulsi include combatting respiratory complaints such as bronchitis, circulatory support, metabolic support and regulation of blood sugar, and for slowing the ageing processes in the body.
This “herb of longevity” is used in traditional Chinese, Indonesian, and Ayurvedic medicine practices. Gotu kola is considered by many as a medicinal plant has the power to boost cognitive power, reduce stress, anxiety and depression, heal skin issues, promote liver and kidney health, as well as boosting circulation.
Recent research has revealed a wealth of benefits delivered by the humble chamomile flower when consumed in tea, including sleep support by promoting relaxation and reducing stress, blood sugar support, bone strength and density support, and last but certainly not least anti-inflammatory properties which flow on to promote healthy skin and gut health.
Lavender flowers are well-known for their ability to induce calm and relaxation. Lavender tea has anti-inflammatory qualities which has positive effects on the circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems, enhancing and optimising overall immunity.
Scientific evidence suggests that little old cinnamon may have many functional and medicinal properties, including anti-oxidant qualities and properties of an anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory agent. Studies have also found that cinnamon may have positive effects on metabolism, as well as having circulation benefits suggestive of a positive impact on insulin resistance and cholesterol levels.
