Turmeric Root

Curcumin is the primary active ingredient in turmeric, and has been confirmed by a wealth of studies to have strong anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.

Two recent studies suggested that curcumin may suppress tissue migration of the lining of the uterus, and may also suppress the proliferation of endometrial cells by reducing oestradiol production (oestradiol being a form of oestrogen that can contribute to endometriosis).

Ashwagandha Root

Studies in the early 2000s found that women with advanced endometriosis had significantly higher levels of cortisol (a hormone involved in stress response). Subsequent to this, a scientific review found that clinically significant reductions in stress resulted from treatment with Ashwagandha Root. It has been found to have an adaptogenic quality, reducing stress experienced by the mind and body.

Ashwagandha has a particular calming effect on the nervous system, reducing depression, anxiety, fatigue, stress-induced insomnia, exhaustion, and general brain “fog”. At the cellular level, Ashwagandha root has been shown to reduce oxidative stress by increasing antioxidant levels and activity in the body, thereby protecting the body from free radical damage.

These studies indicate a potential role for Ashwagandha in stress reduction for women with endometriosis.

Ginger Root

Two recent studies found that ginger can reduce menstruation-related pain associated with endometriosis. 

Additionally, ginger is loaded with nutrients and bioactive compounds and has a long history of use in traditional medicine. Ginger appears to be highly effective against nausea. It is also used to reduce muscle pain and soreness, has strong anti-inflammatory effects and is thought to be highly effective against chronic indigestion.

Rose Hips

Studies have shown that the oils found in rose hips can be effective in reducing menstrual pain and bleeding. Rose hips have also been linked to numerous benefits, including improved immunity, heart health, weight loss, and skin aging.

Chamomile Flowers

A 2018 study showed that chrysin, a compound found in chamomile, suppressed the growth of endometrial cells. Another recent study has shown that chamomile can reduce the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. 

Chamomile flowers also promote relaxation and boost mood, and their anti-inflammatory properties also help support healthy skin and gut health (poor skin and gut health being other common markers of endometriosis).

Lavender Flowers

Several studies have suggested that menstrual cramps triggered by endometriosis can be reduced by using lavender flowers and the associated oil from the petals. Lavender tea has anti-inflammatory qualities which have positive effects on the circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems, enhancing and optimising overall immunity.

Peppermint Leaf

According to a scientific literature review, peppermint has been found to have antioxidant properties, with studies showing that antioxidant supplements such as those from peppermint can reduce pelvic pain associated with endometriosis.

Specifically, a recent study in 2016 showed that peppermint can reduce the severity of pain from menstrual cramps.


how do you have it?

1 teaspoon per serving.

Infuse for 5-10 minutes in boiling water, or longer to allow for maximum extraction from root ingredients. Can be consumed hot, or cold after steeping for as long as you like.

A Little Fertili-tea is best consumed at least twice every day, first thing in the morning and again in the afternoon or early evening.
